Common engineering methods can be used to calculate in detail a given Waverail system. However, results obtained in such manner would not be conclusive because subject to optimal system choice. Furthermore, with Waverail being very flexible optimum system choosing can be extremly intriguing.

Hence the engineering calculations have been adapted such that the software, given requirements, chooses the optimal system, consistent and independent of choices (selection module).  The behaviour of the system under various load conditions is then analysed (analysis module). Thus we have:
  • a selection module and
  • an analysis module

Overhead electricity only has been evaluated so far and battery will come later

The analysis module has 73 independent parameters denominated in A$.

selection module

The selection module accepts 39 independent input parameters.
8 track input parameters (Number of stations, station distance, etc) define the track (the circuit)
xx system input parameters (carriage size, max speed, etc) plus the output from the track module (station distance, etc) define the system as far as possible
xx input parameters (capacity required, etc) define the task     plus the output from the system module define the

xx in its submodules track, system and task
xx parameters plus
The SCHILTEC developed simulation package consists of a selection module and an analysis module.
39 independent parameters go into the selection comprising the submodules track, system and task
Overhead electricity only has been evaluated so far and battery will come later

The analysis module has 73 independent parameters denominated in A$.

Model's passenger traffic capability:
a) Base load:   passengers board everywhere at all stations.  Trip length is x% of half line length.
b) Commuter type load:  Passengers board only on suburban stations with traffic to the city; all passengers alight in the CBD.
